Frequently Asked Questions
What types of psychological support do you offer?
I offer a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches tailored to meet individual needs. These include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Solution Focused Therapy and Psychodynamically and systemically informed approaches. During our initial consultation, we will discuss your preferences and determine the most suitable approach for you.
How long will therapy take?
The length of therapy can vary depending on the nature of the issues you're dealing with and your personal goals. Some individuals may find relief within a few sessions, while others may choose longer-term therapy. Generally, therapy sessions last for 50 minutes, and we will regularly review progress and adjust the frequency and duration of sessions as needed.
What happens during the initial assessment session?
The first session is an assessment where we will explore the concerns that brought you to therapy, your personal history, and your goals for therapy. This session also provides an opportunity for us to discuss whether therapy is right for you and if I am the right therapist to help.
What are your fees?
Please visit the Fees page for a detailed breakdown of my session fees, as well as information about cancellations and missed appointments. I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation if you'd like to discuss your needs before committing to a session.
Do you offer a free consultation?
Yes! I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation for anyone interested in receiving psychological support. This gives you the opportunity to ask questions, learn about my approach, and determine whether I am the right fit for you.
How do I book an appointment?
To book an appointment, you can either email me directly at [email protected] or fill out the contact form on the Contact page. If you would like to schedule a free phone consultation first, please mention that in your message.
What is your mode of sessions?
I offer both online and face-to-face sessions. Online sessions are available via TEAMS or Zoom, making it convenient for clients who are unable to attend in person. For those who prefer in-person sessions, I currently offer face-to-face appointments in Central St Albans and West Hampstead in London.
Can I use my insurance to pay for therapy?
I am registered with several private health insurance providers. If you wish to use insurance to cover the cost of your sessions, please check with your insurer for details and ensure that you have the appropriate authorisation. Feel free to get in touch with me if you need further information.
What should I do if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?
If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, I kindly ask for at least 48 hours' notice. For more details on my cancellation policy, please refer to the Fees page. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice are charged at the full session rate.
Is what I tell you in therapy confidential?
Yes, confidentiality is a fundamental part of therapy. Everything you share during our sessions is confidential, with a few exceptions as required by law (e.g. if there is risk of harm to yourself or others). I will explain the limits of confidentiality during our initial consultation.
I am thinking about applying for the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. Can you help?
I offer limited mentorship opportunities for individuals who are aspiring to apply for the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in the UK. This includes guidance on strengthening your application and developing your clinical skills. Please visit the Mentorship page for more information or get in touch directly if you are interested.
What if I'm unsure if therapy is right for me?
It's completely normal to feel unsure about starting therapy. The free 15-minute consultation is a great way to explore whether therapy could be beneficial for you and to understand what the process entails. If you're unsure whether you want to proceed, the consultation can help you make a more informed decision.
